Bessonov Gennady Ivanovich Biography
Alekseeva Gennady Veniaminovich Bessonov celebrates his summer. Gennady Veniaminovich Bessonov was born on April 28 in the village of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR Honorary citizen of the city of Shakhty. We want to offer our readers not a new interview with their Gennady Veniaminovich in recent years gave a uncountable number of times, and not known to a wide circle. He has been living in the US Boston since the year.
The small town of Ugolshchikov and the descendants of the Don Cossacks in the south of Russia made more Olympic champions and world champions than the much larger and well -established cities of world geography. Hundreds of applicants for the Olympic championship simply dreamed that they were accepted into the training halls of the Guru Guru Olympic heavy athletics.
Given all this, it gives me great pleasure and honor to talk with one of the greatest weightlifters of the glorious past Gennady Bessonov about his life in sports, about Olympic heavy athletics and legendary weightlifters with which he trained. More than 20 years have passed since his last performance, but fans and experts of Olympic heavy athletics today remember him very well. Time cannot erase the warm memories of his wonderful achievements and victories in this sport.
We would like to express special gratitude to Pavel Vitkovsky for organizing this interview, as well as Movladi Abdulaev and Jeff Fleming for help in preparing this material. Arthur Shidlovsky: As far as I know, you left sports quite early - at 29 years old. Vasily Alekseev was just beginning to get to his first records at this age. So, your last exit to the platform ...
When it was, what were the competitions, rivals, special memories? Gennady Bessonov: My last exit to the international platform took place in the year in Hungary at the world Pannonia Cup in the city of Tatabanya, where I took first place. My main rival was the champion of the Olympiad from Hungary Peter Batsako. I performed with a progressive back injury and hip joint. But during the year I still took part in all -Union competitions, where I took prizes.
At the Pannonia Cup tournament, Gennady Bessonov won twice. The first time a year. It is no secret that the transition from sports to “ordinary life” was rather painful for many outstanding athletes ... What are you doing today? Mines of the Rostov region. In the year, I quit the internal affairs bodies with the rank of police colonel. I am currently working in the administration of the city of Shakhty.
In December, at the initiative of the head of the administration of the Oktyabrsky district of the Rostov region, E. Luhanstsev, a holiday was held dedicated to the summer of my first victory at the World Cup in the Stuttgart of Germany. Igor Kudyukov. Unfortunately, for objective reasons, he could not be present. Communication took place in telephone. David Rigert, Gennaliy Bessonov and Vasily Alekseev at an evening dedicated to the Flight of the first victory of Gennady Bessonov at the World Cup.
How old were you when you started to engage in a bar? Have you been doing other sports before? Do you remember your first competitions? Against the background of others, I stood out by power preparation. Mine V. Soloviev, who previously himself was engaged in heavy athletics. My first steps in this sport are connected with this person. My first competitions took place on December 5, I then took one of the last places.
A small city in the Rostov region. And suddenly such a worldwide glory to local rods. All this led to high sports results that allowed to rise to the highest step of the pedestal. Persistent training all year round, the desire only forward. I and all the champions of our city gave themselves to a completely beloved business. What were they on the platform and outside the platform?
On the platform, he was incomparable, really knew how to fight for every kilogram, for the victory was ready to give himself completely. Take, for example, the Olympics of the year.
Then his rival, Hungar, pushed, 5 kg and left the platform, as it seemed to him, in the rank of champion. Alexei had one approach. And Alexei brilliantly coped with such a task. Rudolf Plikfelder was a balanced person, everything was laid out on the shelves, each step was extinct, each lifting of the bar in training was designed. He trained without blots, that is, without marriage, each approach to the intended weight was performed clearly and impeccably.
Due to the correctly selected tactics, he eventually became the champion of the Olympic Games of the year. In life, Plikfelder is Short, he was completely given to his favorite business, and having finished performing, he began to work as a coach and achieved phenomenal success. He is the only coach in the world who prepared three Olympic champions: Alexei Vakhonin, David Rigert and Nikolai Kolesnikov.
It was a legendary team. Until now, heavy athletics lovers ask how they trained in the national team, how were the athletes at the training camp, how were decisions about who will go to submit the USSR to world and Olympic championships? Could you tell you about it from your own experience. For the first time, the USSR team always trained for the adult team of the USSR, the USSR team always trained according to the plan, the fees were planned in advance during the year, there was almost no rest.
The athletes were selected for the final training for world championships, without injuries. The choice was almost every weight of up to three athletes with the same results. On the other hand, it was not possible to win gold at the USSR championships. Does this mean that it was more difficult to win the USSR championship in those years than international competitions?
My performances were planned by the coach. If I won the USSR championship, it would be very difficult to keep the sports uniform at the peak, and it was possible to “roll it over” and go to the peak to world championships. What style does Dorokhin have? He completely surrendered to his work and is currently surrendered. His working time did not end with the end of my training.
After each training, he conducted her analysis and analysis. I often asked about my well -being, I was interested in whether I was overturned, but at the same time I loved that his plans were fulfilled in full. He did not like when there was some kind of distraction during training, but he himself was never distracted, he was completely absorbed in the training process.
His training plans were not a dogma, often made adjustments to them, and sometimes tolerated training, for example, from morning to evening or vice versa. His fanatical attitude towards heavy athletics helped him to educate today two honored masters of sports of me and Tregubov, four international masters and 55 masters of sports of the USSR and Russia. The only one who was allowed into the hall when Alekseev trained was Bessonov.
So said Western magazines. It turns out that the only one who had access to the secrets of Alekseev was Bessonov. This is true? And if so, will you reveal any secrets of Vasily Ivanovich? Perhaps I am one of those who could go to the hall during his training. The peculiarity of his training is that he knew his weaknesses and constantly worked on them. His training was not similar to one another.
But he placed the emphasis on strengthening the muscles of the back. And he did this not with large lifts in weight, but to repeated repetitions on small scales. Often in the summer we trained on the banks of the Don River, on the sand. In his opinion, these training were strengthened by the vestibular apparatus, since everything was on the movement of sand, rivers, the slope of the coast, and after each approach, several tens of meters swam.
In addition, often instead of lifting the rod, they threw the core in various ways. As a rule, after such summer training, our personal result was noticeably raised in the fall, and there were never injuries, which is very important. A sense of confidence in victory over his rivals to some extent passed to me. Naturally, we calculated who set up and how many records. I would like to hear how really the situation was, whether the champions and record holders of the world in the USSR were really wealthy people?
In the lower row of David Rigert Second on the left, Nikolai Kolesnikov is the second on the right, in the middle row Gennady Bessonov, the Fire on the right, in the upper row Vasily Alekseev Seventh on the right. There were modest state payments that did not allow “wealthy people”. I did not have many world records, but for each record I was paid for rubles.
But in fairness, for every athlete who sought victories at the European, Peace Championships, the Olympic Games, a free three- or four-room apartment stood out. This made it possible to live normally, but not to be wealthy. This became a splash in the West, as it was much higher than the world record in powerlifting. And only recently, the American athlete crouched with great weight.
