After graduating from the Architectural Institute of Butusov on distribution, he was sent to work at the Uralgiprotrans project Institute, where he was also engaged in the development of design for the Sverdlovsk metro stations. By the way, one of his projects was implemented in the design of the Cosmonauts Avenue station - a unique decoration of columns, combining Haytek style and Ural stones.

In addition, it was Butusov who developed a font, which was written by the name of another station in the Sverdlovsk subway - Uralmash. In the evenings, Butusov and Umetsky continued to rehearse, write their own songs - and once they came to the decision to create their own group. But they quickly came to the conclusion that it was too bulky. They changed the name for Nautilus-but it turned out to be occupied by ex-musicians of the "Time Machine", who founded a new team.

Then the young rockers opened the encyclopedia and found out that Jules Verne named the famous submarine in honor of the thugs of mollusk - nautilus pompilius. In the year, Butusov and Umetsky was compiled by guitarist Andrei Sadnov, and the musicians began recording a demoalbom. It was created at home and went out on a magnetic film. A year later, the rockers released the debut album of Nautilus Pompilius - “Moving”.

The first public performance of artists took place in the Sverdlovsk recreation center "Motorist" in the fall of the year.
