He is not even 30 years old, and he has already conquered the whole world. Daniil Trifonov is called one of the brightest modern pianists and unsurpassed virtuoso. Interview DW. This Russian -American pianist and composer is not even 30 years old, and in his track record - victories in the most prestigious music competitions. Daniel gave concerts with the orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater under the direction of Valery Gergiev, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Israeli Symphony Orchestra.

And this is far from the end of the list. He is the owner of many awards, including Grammy. In the year, according to Gramophone magazine, the pianist was awarded the title of Artist of the Year. Daniil Trifonov. He learned to play the piano when he was barely five years old. He studied music in Moscow, and at the end of the Gnesin music school entered the Cleveland Institute of Music.

He currently lives in New York, and performs with concerts around the world. Recently, the pianist gave a solo concert at a music festival in the Austrian Salzburg, where the DW correspondent met with him. DW: In the program booklet of the Salzburg concert - a very wide genre palette of the declared works. And the accompanying text explains that you want to demonstrate how the music developed in the 20th century.

What were you guided by selecting essays for the concert? Daniil Trifonov: I tried to select those works in which the features of the musical language of one or another decade of the 20th century are most clearly revealed. At the same time, in general, everything was supposed to be perceived as one musical cycle. Is it important for you that the audience is in the hall?

Even when I have a recording process in the studio, I definitely play in front of the audience once, most often - already on the finish line. Meanwhile, I noticed that after a long break, getting used to public performances is not easy. So it is very important to give concerts regularly. But at about 11 a.m. they called me and said that mass events in the entire state were canceled.

Then I flew back to New York, and then to the Dominican Republic, where I lived for two months. And when he returned to the States, he settled in the same house near New York. I returned to New York only last month. But he also rehearsed new works for the upcoming season - for example, the third piano concert of Beethoven, the first piano concert of Brahms Johannes Brahms.

Well, and individual works of Brahms, Debussy, Musorgsky.

Later, I participated in some summer festivals, which nevertheless took place in Europe and the United States. Daniil Trifonov Photo: Dario Acosta - sometimes listening to the music you performed, you feel a certain natural element, you see colors and even hear voices. Do you yourself think about such non -musical things when you play? Sometimes some story comes to mind completely spontaneously, something completely new.

There may be sources of inspiration not from the world of music. And before the performance, I visited the exhibition of paintings by El Greco. Playing the concert, I suddenly realized that during the performance of the sheet sonata, I was accompanied by the world of images from the paintings of El Greco. But it happens that decisions come and spontaneously. I want me to always have alternative performance options.

After all, it would be tiring and not so interesting to constantly perform a musical work in the same manner. The more I play this or that essay, the more diversity I try to bring. So, in June, I planned to record Scriabin and Stravinsky. It didn't work out. But now I am glad to announce the release of my new album in November with the music of Scriabin, Stravinsky and Prokofiev.
