In the city, many years later, Yuri Fedorovich was appointed to the post of senior instructor of the political department in the detachment of guard ships for the protection of sea borders in the village of Kuvshinskaya Salma of the Murmansk Region.

And in the year he was transferred to Arkhangelsk to the post of deputy commander for the political part of the group of KPP boats. Almost thirty years of life was given to Yuri Fedorovich Ilyin in the border troops. A long and difficult path has passed. And wherever Yuri Fedorovich serves, no matter what positions he served, he not only brilliantly fulfill his official duties, but was also an excellent social activist, organizer, and worked with youth.

More than once he was elected the secretary of the Komsomol organization. To overcome all the hardships and deprivations of military service, Yuri Fedorovich was helped by his beloved wife - Zinaida Mikhailovna. She gave her husband three beautiful daughters Irina, Love and Elena. Having retired, Yuri Fedorovich Ilyin continued to work with youth, engaged in sponsored children from the Arkhangelsk school, conducted the lessons of courage, patriotism.

For a great contribution to the patriotic education of youth, as well as for merits in ensuring the security of the state, Yuri Fedorovich Ilyin in the year was awarded the medal “For the difference in border activities. There were other awards on his ceremonial tunic: the Order of the Patriotic War of the II degree, the medals “For Military Merit”, “For Distinction in the Protection of the State Border of the USSR”, “For the Victory over Germany”, there are also special honorary awards - two Orders “Silver Cross”.
