World Sweden Championship-1st place in the Skiatlon, 4th place in the race for 50 km. As a child, Maxim was not going to become an athlete, especially a skier. He ran, played football, volleyball and other outdoor games. When he turned 10 years old, at school, in addition to mandatory subjects, students had to do something else: either in the extended day group to visit interest circles, or sign up for any sports section.

At first, he did just that: he signed up in a burning circle, then drawing, but soon made his choice in favor of the ski section. Already engaged in the section, he first took part in school skiing competitions at a distance of 1 km. Without much enthusiasm and mood, he went to the start. I didn’t count on some high result, because it was one of the smallest among the starting, and without any competitive experience.

He no longer remembers the race, but having finished the distance, after the finish he immediately left home. To his great surprise, only two days later he found out that he had won. Before the lesson, the class teacher built a non -altered reason for building the class and solemnly handed the winner an honorary letter to everyone. Maybe this first success, maybe something else, but his skis “hooked” him tightly.

Firstly, ski traditions were strong in the ball, and skiing was considered, if not a folk sport, then certainly beloved, and secondly, the name of the world champion and the silver medalist of the Olympic Games of Vladimir Nikitin was in the ball in the ball. Among the boys, the competitions of memory of Sergey Pogobrykin, a champion of the country among young people, were very popular.

And for most boys, they were undoubtedly idols. The first coach of Vyglezhanin was Vladimir Lopatin, in the past a strong skier. The young athlete liked in the section that all the guys were a small friendly sports family, led by his mentor. They were interested together. During the year, the coach taught his wards to the basics of ski technology, tried to instill in them the realization that in skiing everything is achieved only with diligent labor.

Maybe these first lessons subsequently taught him to endure, I can’t improve through, move the boundaries of my capabilities, and win. A year later, Vyglezhanin continued to increase his sportsmanship with his second coach Sergei Maksimov. The pupils were very respectful of their mentor, felt his attention and care. Each young athlete in the group was equipped with a sports equipment, fitted in accordance with its growth, size.

The equipment improved as each athlete reached high results. Under the guidance of this coach, the first victories came to Maxim, who only fueled the desire to be the best. He did not spare himself, year after year, improving the results. And so until the 7th grade. By virtue of the circumstances, S. Maksimov left the profession and his group should have been transferred to another coach who was engaged in children of the same age or, at the request of the athletes themselves, continue to train with young novice coach Oleg Prevzchikov in the age group for a year older.

Vyglezhanin, the only one who made his choice in the direction of the second. Time showed that he was not mistaken. It is with this mentor that all his subsequent victories will be associated. The first competitions were remembered in which the seven -grader of Vyglezhanin took part under the leadership of the new coach. On his car, O. carriers took several of his pupils to the village of Sigaevo of the Sarapul district for open republican competitions.

An unsuccessful draw and young skier had to start in the first rooms. Maxim’s equipment at that time wanted the best: when most athletes already used modern SDS mounting narrow -widths, its skis mounts, among the people “peasant”, were with wide kants, which cut the edges of the newly cut skiing along the way, leaving the cliff of snow dust and thereby dulling the speed.

The result was expected to be weak. This defeat spurred him, I wanted to prove that it was by chance and he was not weaker than others. Upon returning home, he changed his fasteners, it also inspired him. The sports biography of M. Vylegzhanin was not swift, he moved to his goal with short but confident steps. At first he began to get into thirty, twenty, ten, then gradually crept up to prize places in republican competitions.

In those years, Udmurtia ski in this age category was mainly excited by strong athletes who, for various reasons, could not be realized in the future: Denis Voronchikhin, Ivan Dmitriev and others. The first departure in the national team of the younger young men of the republic for All -Russian competitions for the prizes of Honored Master of Sports R. Smetanina in Syktyvkar. For Maxim, this start was also remembered by the fact that the coach, seeing the ward gathering to start in a black cap, assured him that they did not allow such equipment to start, and invited him to change to another - Swiks, which belonged to his son and was small in size.

Assessing this act of the coach from the height of the present, Vyugzhengin believes that the mentor apparently wanted his pupil to look dignified and modernly equipped for that time. The cap did not affect the result, the team and Maxim did unsuccessfully. But the very next year, its results looked much better. Nobody managed to get into the prize -winners in the personal standings, but the team of Udmurtia won the baton in a stubborn struggle with the Sverdlovsk people, and at the last stage Maxim had to make a lot of efforts in the struggle for victory with the future of the country's national team Ivan Alypov.

Interestingly, athletes then played for the relay team of the republic as they called themselves “4 V”, whose names began on the letter “B”: D. Voronchikhikhin, D. Veretennikov, L. Vinogradov and M. In the year at zonal competitions in Izhevsk, Vyglezhanin, due to illness, could not be selected to the final of the championship of Russia, which was supposed to be held in Tomsk.

In this regard, the coach decided: to appear as a member and go to Tomsk at the expense of the municipality of the village of Sharkan. Here he was fully realized: he won one of the races, and on the other was the third. The team of Udmurtia, which performed in the personal standings, completed the baton unsuccessfully. Progressive results allowed him to gain a foothold in the junior team of the country.

In the year, for the first time, he was a reserve for his first world championship among juniors, but at the last moment, when he was already going on the road, a message came that he was not going. Very upset. But the year, already in the main composition of the Russian national team, Vyglezhanin still managed to take part in the world championship among juniors in Shonaha Germany, where at a distance of 30 km a classic move from the mass start took 6th place.

Natural cataclysms did not allow the entire championship program, the snow melted. So the first international competitions in his career ended for him. In the adult category, the Vyglezhanin could not immediately gain a foothold at the basis of the Russian national team, and within two years he rolled his skills in its composition at the expense of the state sports of Udmurtia. So, in small steps, from starting to start, he defended his right to be a full member of the country's team.

In the year, at the first stage of the qualifying competitions for the Olympic Games in the Vancouver, held in Krasnogorsk, Vyglezhanin took the second place in the Skiatlon for 30 km. The next stage of selection took place in the Cauchkadzor of Armenia, where two distances - 15 and 30 km had to run to the Vancouver trip to Vancouver. At the first, he spoke successfully, on the second, under the conditions of selection, it remained to go around at least one starting athlete.

At first, everything turned out successfully, by the distance he showed the 3-4th result, and at some point it seemed to him that he could be higher, in the end he did not calculate his strength and the entire reserve of time accumulated earlier, melted at the last segment, and with it the chance to become a member of the Olympic Games. And he himself did not want to go to the Olympics with the second reserve and not to start, although such an offer from the leadership of the team came.

M. Vylegzhanin approached his first medal of the international level only after three years - at the World Universiad of the Year, which took place in Italian Turin from January 17 to 27. The lack of snow, which was only on the highway, was surprised. At the first classic “spot”, he took a high pace from the start, showing the third result along the course, caught up with a colleague on the command of Maxim Buldakov, who started 30 seconds earlier.

A kilometer before the finish, on the last long rise, the forces left him, the lack of experience, the insidious height and the excessive pace, taken at the beginning of the race, affected it. As a result, he lost all the seconds won before at a distance and took only 5th place. At the same time, M. Buldakov became the owner of a bronze medal. In Sprint, Vyglezhanin also failed to climb the pedestal.

The next race is according to the Gundersen system. In the morning, at a distance of 15 km, he managed to cling to Bronze after Beloruss A. Lazutkin and Russian A. Kuznetsov, and after lunch - in the persecution race, as well as 15 km, but already with a free style, in a stubborn struggle with prize -winners of the morning race at the finish line was the second, again losing to Lazutkin.

To the great joy of fans from Udmurtia, another Russian and fellow countryman Maxim, Nikolai Khokhryakov, became the third. He did not go to the relay team based on the results of the first race. There was a 30 km free style race, where he managed to fully realize his chances - to win and become the world universiade champion.
