Zaur Zaseev, director of Hoodyakov Production, a person is not public. They say that he is simply obsessed with work and can spend several days on the set, do not sleep and not eat until he achieves the result, and here is not up to the parties. I am convinced that a person should learn everything in practice. Work in the same group with professionals is much more productive than any lecture.
From the first week, the students were already on the real set and studied everything during work. This is cool and right. And it is also very important that young people are taught the right relationship with each other. The first thing they told us at the institute: “Look at people around, these people will build your future.” And this is the absolute truth. I would advise today's students to find the way as quickly as possible to the real process of creating a clip, film or commercial.
And it doesn’t matter who to work, the main thing is to be part of the team and understand all the processes. No need to wait and think that someone will do something for you and teach something. You need to learn yourself. After the institute, I worked in advertising agencies at a copywriter’s position as part of a creative group, but I quickly realized that work in the office was not for me.
And then I got into Baseli Timur Bekmambetov, my friends made me a meeting with Timur, which lasted about 35-40 seconds. I was asked if I want to work. I said yes. The second question: “Can you manage people? I thought, maybe he wants to appoint me superior? So I became the second director. I was lucky, I was immediately thrown into the paintings complex in production, such as “black lightning”, stuffed with tricks, with the floor of the main highways of the city.
I walked very important on a closed Tverskaya street, and everyone was waiting for my team "started"! It was very cool. On the set of the painting “Trushwood” I had to manage children, even learn football combinations with them. The producers seemed to like it. We can say that Baseli became my real film school, and I am grateful to the people who then believed in me and trusted me.
I came to advertising and clips with cinema bastards, as well as a clear understanding of timing and responsibility in relation to trifles. Then I met Pasha Khudyakov 32, we worked on many projects together, shot clips and the film “Odnoklassniki”, where I was the second director. I gained experience, spied at the receptions of shooting, studied all sorts of tricks. One fine day, Cornelia Pole, the general producer of Hoodyakov Production, said that I had to shoot myself.
Now I can say that if the film school was “Basel” for me, then the university is “Khudyakov Production”. So I became a director. I was very lucky in my life, because I always worked with people that I liked. I never had to force myself to go to work. And now I can say that I work with friends. And this is very cool. You look, you think: “Well, yes, it seems beautiful,” I could also.
Reality revealed to me at the moment when I realized that absolutely everything now depends on me. Any step, look, t -shirt color. You should know the answer to everything! You are responsible for everything! At the same time, you still have to inspire confidence in everyone around that everything is going according to plan, that everything will work out. In fact, seriously speaking, it is wildly cool when the idea comes and you know exactly how to realize it.
When you once looked at this frame in your head and was able to correctly convey the tasks to the team. It can only be cooler than this when you see everything that lived in your head in the monitor, and the pictures converge! I am sure that for any director the team with which he works is important. Ideally, if these are your friends as in my case.
People who worry with you and help in everything. Then you can trust them and be sure that the pictures will converge. It happens that after an hourly shift, we, tired and satisfied, are sitting together for another two hours and discuss how it was. This is the happiness of working with friends. With each project, I feel how my directorial forces grow! We constantly raise the bar and do our work better and better.
It seems to me that for the director it is important not to slide into a state of flow of some average work and demand a maximum of each project from himself. And while this will be so, a person can be called the director. And in a different way I do not want. And friends will not allow! Ideas come, pass many stages in the head, checking on “it already”, “it is somehow boring” and so on.
If all the stages have passed, the idea begins to develop. It is important to immediately discuss and add ideas together with the operator, to visualize them immediately. It is very difficult to convey the condition with words, you like ideas and you understand that you yourself will be interested in seeing this. The idea is probably the most important thing. I say "probably", because in our work everything is important!
I love old films. I love when I stop noticing and thinking how they shot it or where the group was at that moment. I do not often go to cinemas. I do not like it when the film ends.Not because I look at him excitedly, I just enjoy the moment when I understand that now, after about a minute, the credits will begin and everyone will gather and shake off the popcorn. Do you know what a good artistic and good documentary is?
Good artistic - this is the one that seemed to you documentary, and a good documentary is artistic. I came up with this myself. Right? It is probably worth adding that you should never treat yourself as a beginner director. You need to be confident in yourself. Wait for nothing, start working. Take off, mount, touched, change, show everyone and live in a row.
It doesn’t matter if it is a difficult person or simple. I somehow always managed to immediately find a common language with artists. It has never been a problem for me. I hope that after I stated this, nothing will change. I am a very creatively greedy person. If I see that the artist had a cool scene in several doubles, then I want the viewer to see it, because it is really difficult to choose the best from several options.
Therefore, I am very glad that there is such a thing as Instagram.
